Clapper is growing faster than ever. More creators, more Lives, and so much more community. And when an app grows that fast, the smartest thing you can do is make sure the foundation stays solid.
So we’re doing a little spring cleaning. In August.
On August 24, we’re removing a handful of features that most of the community isn’t using, so we can keep Clapper fast, reliable, and ready for the busiest stretch of the year. This is not a sign that things are going poorly. It’s the opposite. We’re tidying up so we can build harder on what you actually use.
What’s Leaving on August 24 🧹
These four features will be removed from the app:
- 📍 Nearby
- 🤝 Friend Finder
- 💬 Paid Multi Live (also known as Spotlight)
- 💸 DM Tipping
If any of these are part of how you use Clapper today, you’ll want to wrap up activity there before August 24. After that date, they will no longer be available in the app.
Why We’re Doing This (And Why It Matters) 🔧
Every feature in an app costs something. Server capacity. Engineering time. Maintenance. Support. Even features that only a small slice of the community touches still take up room that could go toward tools the whole community is asking for.
As we head into our busiest season, September through January, we need that room.
We’re removing features with low engagement so we can:
- Keep the app faster and more stable as more people join
- Free up server space for the features you use every day
- Put engineering time into improvements that actually move the needle for creators and communities
This is housekeeping, not a retreat. Growing platforms that stay healthy do this on purpose. They stop carrying dead weight so the product people love can keep getting better.
What We’re Building Toward 🚀
Cleaning house is only half the story. The point is what comes next.
We’re focusing more energy on the parts of Clapper that already feel like home for creators:
- Community, and empowering niche creators to have stronger places to gather and grow
- Better FYP discovery, so great content reaches the people who actually care about it
- Stronger Livestream tools, so going Live stays one of the best ways to build real connection and income on the platform
Those are the directions that match how this community already shows up. Less clutter. More investment in what works.
What This Means for You 🧡
For most creators, day-to-day Clapper stays the same. If you relied on one of the four features above, we know change can feel annoying. We hear that. We’re making the call because the long-term product gets better when we stop spreading resources thin across tools almost nobody uses.
Think of it like clearing out a garage before a big season of projects. The stuff that never got used leaves. The tools you reach for every week get more space, more attention, and a better setup.
