Clapper’s Ins and Outs for 2024

What’s a new year without a few resolutions? We’re all eager to change in 2024, and you’ve probably got a few resolutions of your own. But what about your content creation resolutions? If you haven’t gotten there yet, no worries. We’ve got 10 ins and outs that will help you smash whatever your creator goals are.

The In and Out of “Ins and Outs” 📚

Ins and outs were a new trend that swept social media at the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024. Essentially, you list the things that are “in” for the new year, and the things that are “out”. Ins aren’t so much goals, but things you want to prioritize this year: instead of “lose 20 pounds”, your ins might be “eat healthy foods” and “work out 3 times a week”.

Similarly, outs are things you want to stop doing in 2024. Are there any habits or impulses you want to leave behind? Perfectionism, quick anger, not drinking enough water, things like that.

Basically, this is a modern version of all those trashy “fashion” tabloids you’d see at the checkout stand in the early 2000s. Berets, suspenders, and overthinking your content are out! Now, lets get into our actual ins and outs for 2024.

Ins 👍

Engaging With New Communities 👯‍♀️

This year, we are going out of our way to connect with people in other communities! We’re going to think of other niches and communities we’re passionate about, and we’re going to watch videos in it. And, scariest of all, we’re going to comment and talk with other people in the community.

Joining (or Starting) More Group Chats 🗯️

Did you know that Clapper Groups are making a comeback? Now’s the perfect time to create one! In your Group chat, you’ll be able to grow your community, promote your content, and foster connections with your followers and supporters. By joining other Group chats, you’ll network with creators that share the same interests and passions as you (which, by the way, makes out first in so much easier 😉) and further grow your community.

Responding to Comments 🫶🏻

Now that we’re in 2024, we’re going to spend time responding to comments on our videos. The algorithm loves when you respond to comments, and your followers will, too! They want to get to know you and keep the conversation going, so don’t be afraid to. Even if it’s a heart emoji, it’ll go a long way.

Setting Trends in Your Niche 🏆

Instead of just seeing what other people are doing or looking for trends, we’re going to create our own trends this year. Take some time to plan content in advance, think of fun challenges or easy to replicate videos, and use a catchy hashtag. Invite followers and mutuals to join you, and watch your trend take off!

Prioritizing You! ✨

We’re going to create content we want love! Rather than focusing on what will get you views or what you think your audience wants, make the content you love. Even if that means trying a new niche or new style: if you want to do it, do it!

Outs 👎

Feeling Guilty 😔

A lot easier said than done, but we are not feeling guilty about content creation this year. Whether you don’t post as much as you want, don’t stay “on track” with your goals, or realize you can’t do as much as you wanted, we will not feel guilty over it. Content creation is constantly changing and meant to be fun, so there’s no need to feel “bad” if it doesn’t go as planned.

Comparing Your Content to Others ⚖️

In 2024, we won’t be comparing out content to other creators’. It can be good to see what others are doing, and to analyze our own content, but we’re not going to compare our content to other people. We’re all at different points in our content creation journey, and we all have different resources and limitations. It’s unfair to compare two content creators – and very unfair to you!

Ignoring Your Mental Health 🧠

This year, we are paying attention to our brains and what they need! Need a break? Take one! Need to cut out a few projects? We’ll bring the scissors! Your content will be much better (and so much more fun) if you pay attention to what you’re feeling.

Never Going Live 🎥

Going Live for the first few times can be scary. But this year, we’re not going to let that stop us! Think of the things that scare you about going Live and find solutions. If you’re worried about awkward pauses or silences, have an activity you want to do or background music. Invite your followers (and promote your Live in advance) if you’re worried no one will come. And if you’re spooked about showing your face, try a Radio instead. Once you go Live a few times, you’ll never want to stop.

Obsessing Over Metrics 📊

No more checking likes and views compulsively. For one, this can lead you to create content you aren’t really passionate about. For another, compulsively looking at your metrics can make you feel guilty – or even make you compare yourself with other creators. It’s good to look at metrics and consider them, but don’t obsess over them. One quick glance is more than enough.
