Our latest update comes with a few exciting new features. But none are more highly anticipated than our permanent moderator feature! In today’s article, we’ll take you through how to set up permanent mods, how to change them, and answer some of your questions!
What are Permanent Moderators? 🧐
Before our most recent update, creators had to manually set moderators each time they went Live. Now, if you set a moderator in a Live, they’ll automatically be added as a moderator in all your future Livestreams. Once they join your Live, they’ll be “modded up”. You get to focus on hosting an incredible Livestream, and they can get to work right away.
How Do I Set a Moderator? 🎙️
There are a few different ways to set moderators in your Livestreams. When you go Live for the first time after updating the app, you’ll be able to add a few moderators directly in your Livestream. Just head to the moderator settings in your Live and tap “Add Moderators”. You’ll see everyone currently in your Live and can choose from them.
Once you set moderators this way, you’ll have to add any others the old-fashioned way!
- Find the creator you want to have as a moderator in your chat. Tap their username.
- Tap “Manage”, then “Make Moderator”.
That’s it! Once you add them as a moderator, you won’t have to do so again.
Can I Change Moderators? ⚙️
Yes! You’re not stuck with moderators once you add them. To change them, all you have to do is:
- Head to the Livestream settings menu in your Live.
- Tap the “Moderators” button.
- Here you can either add moderators or remove them.
You can also remove moderators before you go Live! Here’s how:
- Tap the “Settings” button.
- If you’ve already set your moderators, you’ll be able to see them here.
- Tap the minus by a creator’s username to remove them as a moderator.
What Does a Moderator Do? ✅
The short answer is: whatever you want!
Livestream moderators are ultimately responsible for keeping the Livestream chat in check. They have the power to remove any users from the Livestream; once removed, they won’t be able to enter your Livestream for another 24 hours. Depending on what the host wants, moderators can remove users, keep the chat active, or help the host keep track of the chat. You and your moderators get to decide what their responsibilities are.
Bonus: Management Logs 🎉
Hosts and moderators now have access to management logs! These logs, only available during the Livestream, will highlight actions taken by moderators during the Livestream. You can’t access it once the Live is over, so be sure to check it (or have your moderators check it!) before you’re done!
