We talk a lot about how important consistency is for social media creators. And while we did talk bout some strategies to stay consistent, we haven’t ever talked about what actual consistency looks like – beyond having a posting schedule you stick to. In reality, staying consistent on social media looks like a daily checklist. It’s a list of things you do each day to stay motivated, keep social media on your mind, and engage with your audience.
But that doesn’t sound any easier, you cry! That’s why we made a daily checklist of five essentials for every content creator. It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out or looking to improve your process; this checklist will help you stay consistent and become successful.
Your Daily Social Media Checklist ✅
Scroll the FYP 📺
Whether you start or end your social media workday with an FYP scroll, it’s essential. You can use it to ease you into the social media sphere (think of it like a warm-up or gear shift) or use it as a reward for a good day’s work.
You’re not looking for or doing anything specific with this scroll. Just enjoy your FYP and your favorite content. You may love content creation or consider it a job, but you have to let yourself have fun with it. A lot of people create content as a side hustle, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed or burn out. Take a little time to unwind, see what other people are creating, and remind yourself why you started creating content in the first place. Don’t worry about looking for new content to create or spotting trends to follow.
Check Recent Activity 🧡
Opening your notifications is one of the first things you have to do on your daily checklist. Head to your notifications and see if there have been any recent likes, follows, or comments. You may notice an old video is getting a lot of traction, or that you’re getting a lot of similar comments. Maybe one of your favorite creators finally followed you back. Checking your recent notifications and activity is like a pulse check. It gives you a really good idea of what’s been happening recently.
You should also take some time to catch up on your DMs! Some days you won’t have any new ones, and others they won’t seem to end. That’s totally fine; just scroll through and make sure there aren’t any you need to respond to right away. There’s a good chance most of them won’t need a response – not a long one, at least.
Respond to Comments 🗯️
Once you see what’s going on that day, spend a little time responding to comments. Social media is all about being social (it’s literally in the name), so spend some time engaging with your audience. Your audience will feel more connected to you if you’re regularly engaging with them in the comments. And if they feel more connected to you, they’re more likely to become invested in your content and continue engaging. To learn more about why it’s important to respond to followers, check out this article on the psychology of developing a community.
Like DMs, there may be a day when you only have one or two new comments, but the next day you’ll have dozens. You don’t have to respond to every comment on your video, but we do recommend responding to a few! A lot of comments will just be emojis or something simple like “LOL” or “how cute,” which don’t need a response. But if someone says something funny or engaging or asks a question, drop a reply.
Create or Connect 🫶
We’re not saying you have to create or post content every day. Everyone has their own content creation style, and we don’t want you to change it. But you should spend some time each day on your content. Whether that’s creating and posting your daily video or editing your weekly upload, carve out time to consistently work on your social content, even if it’s five minutes.
You should also spend a little time connecting with your audience outside of the comment section. Clapper makes it easy. You can either go Live or host a Radio and spend some time chatting with your community, or drop a message in your Group chat. Some creators even host weekly Livestreams to catch up with their community. Do whatever matches your energy level that day!

Check Your Niche 🔬
If you’ve read our past articles about hashtags, you probably already have a few from your niche or community that you’re consistently posting in. Part of your daily checklist should be to search them. See what’s happening in your niches! Are there any trends you want to jump on? Any conversations you want to join?
There isn’t a right or wrong number of hashtags to regularly keep tabs on. It depends on your content and how many niches you post in. Some creators only need two or three; others would do better with a minimum of five. Start with a few pertinent to your content and build from there. Three might be the golden number for you, or after a while, you may need to add a couple more. Don’t be afraid to swap out or change your hashtags, either! Your content will constantly be evolving and shifting, and so should the hashtags you monitor.
A Note on Time ⏰
Your daily checklist doesn’t need to take very long to complete. Some days it may take about fifteen minutes! If you’re really short on time, consider skimming your notifications and DMs instead of actually reading. Or complete one thing on your checklist and save the rest for another day.
Have a little extra time to devote to content? Consider jotting down any ideas that may have come to you during the day! Having a bank of ideas to turn to when it’s time to create can be so helpful. If you need a little inspiration, check out our list of twenty-five video ideas for every niche!
