Holidays in October 🎃

There are a ton of holidays worth celebrating this month! We can’t list them all, but here are some big ones we think you should add to your October content calendar.

  • October 8 – National Face Your Fears Day. Try something that scares you!
  • October 10 – World Mental Health Day. Share some self-care advice or your mental health journey.
  • October 11 – Yom Kippur. It’s a quick holiday, but worth a few videos!
  • October 14 – Colombus and Indigenous People’s Day. Sounds like a good excuse for some history content!
  • October 19 – National New Friends Day. Challenge yourself to make a new friend!
  • October 25 – National Kangaroo Awareness Day. Make sure we’re aware of them.
  • October 28 – National First Responders Day. Got any first responder stories to share?
  • October 31 – Halloween. Carve a pumpkin, show off your costume, get spooky!

Check out a full list of October’s holidays here! Don’t forget: if something from another culture or religion grabs your interest, do plenty of research and be respectful!

What’s (Usually) Trending 🖤✨

New trends can pop up and disappear in a moment, but some predictable trends happen like clockwork. Here are some to add to your October content calendar.

  • Halloween. Or spooky content in general. Either way, Halloween content always does well in October.
  • Autumn. Summon your best fall vibes and start creating autumnal content.
  • Recipes. Recipes and cooking inspo are always trending; try combining it with the two trends above!
  • Launches. A ton of brands are launching new things this fall. Grab some exciting ones and review them.

There are also quite a few hashtags that get popular in the fall.

  • #FallVibes
  • #SpookySeason
  • #SweaterWeather
  • #AutumnAesthetic
  • #FallRecipes

…and if you can’t tell, anything with fall or Halloween is a good vibe.

Content Ideas 🛸

We already gave you some good content ideas above, but let’s dive in and learn a few more!

Anything Halloween 👻

Seriously, anything Halloween-related will do really well this month! Halloween is also niche-less, so you can create spooky season content no matter your community. Artists, we recommend you take up the Inktober challenge or do some pumpkin carving tutorials. If you’re hosting a Halloween party, vlog the preparation and share your tips for making it a hit! Into crafting? Create a tutorial of your favorite Halloween crafts! Are you known for your recipes? Share some Halloween goodies!

Seriously, the list goes on and on.

Election Season 🗳️

November 7th is fast approaching and with it the 2024 Presidential Election. Not everyone is politically active or comfortable with sharing their political beliefs on social media. If you are, though, this can be great content to create!

You can share responses to presidential debates, talk about key issues and where the candidates stand, or create content about your local elections. People are already seeking out this content, so if you have the time and the desire, get creating!

Sidenote: be sure to do your research and spend some time getting the facts straight. That’s why we say if you have the time: reporting on politics isn’t as easy as pressing record. It’ll take some prep work.

Party Recipes 🍹

It’s party season, and people are looking for recipes to serve at their next shindig. Try creating (or trying out) so recipes on your profile! Whip up a few fun Halloween cocktail recipes, or start working on your Thanksgiving appetizers. As long as it’s shareable, people will love it. Bonus points if you can make it extra fall-themed by using seasonal ingredients!

Fall-Themed Fitness Challenges 🏋️

For our fitness creators, we recommend coming up with some fun fall-themed fitness challenges! These can be silly, like going to the gym in a funny costume, or more practical, like using pumpkins as weights. If that feels too involved (or you can’t stray from your usual workout) maybe share your Halloween gym playlist.

Book/Movie Reviews 🎥

This is especially good for Halloween content! Everyone’s looking for their next good scare, and there’s no better fix than a Halloween movie. Post a video talking about some of your favorites and why other people might like them. You can make this a series and cover a new piece of media each time, or lump all your favorite scary movies into one.

You can also recommend any scary TV shows, podcasts, or video games you like, too! Any horror or spooky season media is fair game.

Creating Your October Content Calendar 🍂

It can seem overwhelming to work new content like this into your usual routine. But we aren’t asking you to add things onto your plate: we want you to substitute some of your usual content for October specials! If you create and post four videos a week, swap one out for an October one. That way it feels different, but not overwhelming!

As for what you create, don’t worry too much about being in your niche. Start with what interests you or what content you want to create. If that happens to be your niche, great! If not, then that’s fine. As long as you’re having fun, you’re golden.
