2025 may have just begun, but social media doesn’t take any days off. Spend a little time scrolling your FYP and you’ll see dozens of trends already popping up. But which ones have the life span of a mayfly and which ones are worth investing into? In today’s article, we’re covering the top five social media trends we expect to see in 2025.
Our Top 5 Social Media Trends for 2025 🌟📈
AI Being Used Often 🤖

In 2024 alone, we’ve seen a huge rise in AI being used for social media. From voice-overs and content strategies to fun filters and animations, creators have integrated AI into their content for the past year. As we start to have a clearer understanding of AI’s uses and how to get the most out of it, we think creators will find more ways to use it in their content.
And with tools like Creatify, we can see creators and even businesses using AI avatars more often! If you want to learn more about AI tools you can use in your content creation, check out these five we recommend.
Do I Have to Use AI? 🫨
We know AI is a controversial subject across industries. Creatives of all kinds are hesitant to trust it, and scientists have talked about its effects on our environment. If you’re concerned about it stealing or using your content, are worried about its environmental impacts, or simply don’t like AI, you do not have to use it.
Audiences Want Authenticity 🥸

Yes, AI and authenticity can both be social media trends. Sounds odd, we know, but it’s the truth. While a lot of content creators and social media viewers have loved the rise in AI content, a lot aren’t as enthusiastic. We’ve seen more viewers seeking out authenticity. They want to find creators who are themselves and share their passions. They’re looking for connection and community with creators like them.
This year, try to prioritize showing up as your true self. Whether that’s prioritizing content you’re passionate about, posting less edited videos where you can show your personality, or going Live to connect with your community, be yourself. You are the main character of your content, the thing that keeps followers coming back. Your followers (and the larger community) want to get to know you, so don’t be afraid to show them who you are!
Politics Will Pop Up…Again 🫏🐘

President Trump will start his second term this year. Justin Trudeau is stepping down as Canadian Prime Minister. Israel and Hamas just reached a ceasefire agreement. We’re not even a month into 2025 and there’s already so much to discuss. And that’s not even mentioning the TikTok ban!
No matter the platform, we see more and more creators talking about politics. Not only do they influence our daily lives, but viewers see content creators as a more accessible (and truthful) news source. And as platforms start to move away from censoring and shadow-banning creators for stating their opinions, more and more creators will feel empowered to talk about politics.
Our stance on politics and censorship, you ask? We don’t censor creators for sharing their opinions and talking about harder topics, and we never had. You can learn more in our community guidelines breakdown.
Social Media as Search Engines 🔍

More and more people are turning to social media when they have questions. And it’s easy to see why! So many creators are posting how-to’s and tutorials or sharing fun spots to go to in their area. With a highly personalized algorithm and engaging visuals, social media platforms can guide you to content that already appeals to you. To capitalize on this trend, start creating content as if you were a search engine for your niche.
Sound hard? It’s actually easier than you think! The main thing you want to focus on is your captions. If you were a search engine, what would the audience type into the search bar to find your video? How to change a tire, where to open a 401k, and what to make for dinner are great examples. Be sure to include them in the caption, like: “Trying to eat healthier? Here are four easy, yummy meals to make for dinner this week.” You can even do this for videos that aren’t tutorials and or recommendations! Just spend a minute thinking about how to phrase the caption (or even your video script) so it will fit with search engine queries.
Videos Are Still King 🎞️

TikTok might be getting banned, but that doesn’t mean short-form video is going anywhere. If anything, the ban has shown creators and viewers how important short-form video is. It’s quick, pocket-sized entertainment that can appeal to various audiences and communities. Viewers and creators can escape their lives and connect with people from across the world, finding a community they may not have had before.
Plus, short-form video has given thousands of people (even millions) a creative outlet they haven’t had before. Filming a sixty-second or five-minute video is much easier than filming a thirty-minute video. With short-form content, you also don’t have to do as much editing. People don’t expect your content to be perfect; like we said earlier, they want to see the real you, not picture-perfect edits.
