What is the Clapper App? 🤔

Why’s It Called Clapper? 🎬
This is probably our most asked question – which is fair! Clapper’s a unique, kind of elusive name. It actually has a few different meetings! Our name partially pays homage to the clapperboard from movies and TV, also known as a slate or “marker”. It’s a universal symbol for filming and diving into action. There’s no better reference for a short-form and Livestream app!
Our name is also a reference to our welcoming community. We’re “clapping” for you, and your fellow creators are here to cheer you on. A little abstract, we know, but so uplifting!
Is Clapper Just Videos? 📸
While short-form videos are our bread and butter, we’re way more than just videos. We’ve got a laundry list of classic and innovative features, like:

How Can I Grow My Account? 📈
Clapper is all about community. If you want to grow your account and become a Clapper celeb, you need to engage with other creators. Even if you do go viral, you aren’t guaranteed a following. To gain a following and grow your community, create content you love and connect with other creators.

What’s an Equal Opportunity Algorithm? 👏
We get this question a lot, and we can’t say we’re surprised. An equal opportunity algorithm is pretty unique to Clapper, but it’s one of the reasons our creators love us.
Equal opportunity algorithms focus on the kinds of content you’ve liked instead of what’s gaining traction. It doesn’t push content based on likes and engagement once it’s gotten to know your interests. Your video with six likes has as much chance to be pushed as a video with 6,000 likes.
If you’ve just downloaded the app, you might be confused by some of the content on your FYP. You have to train the algorithm and show it the content you want to see. We recommend scrolling for a while and making use of the thumbs-down button for things you don’t like. If you come across a video you like, give it a like and maybe even comment on it! You can also search for content you know you’ll like, either by using hashtags or keywords.
Does Clapper Shadowban? ⛔
No, we do not shadowban creators. If shadowbanning has a hundred haters, we’re one of them; if shadowbanning has no haters, we’re dead. As a platform for adults, we want you to create content you love, including content that covers hard topics. From politics to bad dating stories, guns to smutty books, Clapper is a safe place for you to share all your interests.
That doesn’t mean we tolerate hate speech or bullying. Far from it! Our community guidelines do not allow hate speech or bullying in any capacity, and engaging in either will earn you a violation or ban, depending on the severity of the violation and your history as a creator. But we’ll never ban you without letting you know what you’ve done.
Wait, You’re An Adult Platform?! 🤯
Close! We’re actually a platform for adults seventeen and up. While we may have some adult content creators in the community, that’s not the entirety of our brand or our community. It’s just one piece of what makes us special.
