But the smaller, technical deets are a little harder to grasp. How can I monetize? What does my profile need to stand out? When can I get verified? It’s not like a video game; there’s no starter pack!
Well, for most platforms. In this article, we’re giving you the ultimate Clapper starter pack. From the first accounts you should follow to applying for verification and translating comments in-app, we’ll help you understand the nitty-gritty of all things Clapper.
The Official Accounts 🎬
Unlike other social media platforms, we don’t let you wander around the app blindly. We have a variety of official accounts to help you understand all things Clapper. From weekly tutorials to the latest global news, let’s talk about the official Clapper profiles.
@Clapper is your central hub for all things Clapper. Follow @Clapper and become the first to hear about the latest updates and app-wide events.
@ClapperCreator highlights our creators and communities through Livestreams, in-app events, and more. Join their weekly Town Halls every Friday at 3pm CST to get the latest Clapper tea!
@ClapperAcademy is where creators, new and old, can learn more about the app. Join their New Creator Live every other Monday at 1pm CST to get your questions answered.

Your Profile 🥸
Your profile is your first impression, your introduction to the Clapper community. You want to make it a good one. No one wants to invite an anonymous person to their birthday party; they won’t want to invite a faceless profile with no bio to their community, either.
Here’s everything you need to do to set up your profile and start connecting with the community.
- Pick a custom username. Don’t just be “user” with a string of numbers. Use your full name, a fun nickname, or even something silly. Have fun and pick something that matches your personality.
- Choose a profile picture that best represents you. Pick a headshot, a funny selfie, or even a picture of one of your recent projects.
- Set your bio and Profile Tags. Use your bio to tell the audience who you are and what you create. Let your Profile tags talk about the communities you’re in or what to join.
- Select a profile badge. Badges let you proudly identify as a member of a community on Clapper. There are over a dozen for you to choose from, with more being added all the time.
- Add some external links. Plug in your LinkTree, your other social profiles, and any other external links you want to share with your followers.
Having a complete profile tailored to your experience is more inviting for members of the community. And, with a complete profile, you’re more likely to get verified.
Clapper Verification 👑
Clapper’s verification is a little different. We wanted our verification process to reflect our community focus, instead of only being available for an elite few. Anyone can apply for verification, and we have two forms of verification. The classic Blue Check for over-achievers, and Creator verification for community leaders.
Creator Verification 🪪
Our first level of verification is Creator verification. Creator verification verifies your identity and establishes you as an authority in your niche.
Blue Check Verification ✅
Like other platforms, Blue Check is our highest verification. Not only does this verify your identity, but it helps you stand out as a top creator.
Applying for Verification 📝
You can apply for your Clapper verification in a few easy steps! Head to your profile and open your Creator Space. Then, under the Support heading, you’ll see “My Verification”. This is where you’ll apply for verification. If you aren’t already verified, you’ll find a tracker showing what you still have to do to earn your verification. In the example below, the creator still needs the right number of followers and hasn’t been creating as often as they should.
Once you meet all the requirements, you’ll be able to submit your application!
The Blog 📰
You may not be able to actively find or connect with your community on the blog, but it remains an invaluable resource. And it’s super easy to access from the app!
- Head to your profile and tap the three lines/dots in the top right corner
- Scroll to the “About” section.
- Tap the “Blog” button and you’ll be taken to the blog’s homepage!

Now that we’ve got the basics for finding and building your community down, let’s talk about monetizing!
Monetization 💸
We take monetization seriously. In fact, you can start monetizing as soon as you download the app. No waiting for followers, no thresholds or limits to meet. Videos and Livestreams aren’t the only way to monetize, either…
Oh, and you can start monetizing as soon as you join the app. No waiting for followers, no thresholds or limits to meet. You can earn money on your very first day! Here are a few ways to monetize your account.
Group Chats 💬
You can create up to ten Group chats right profile! And with the option to create a paid Group for your community to subscribe to, you can consistently earn money from them.
To set up a Group chat, you’ll need to:
- Head to your profile, then tap the “My Groups” button below your bio.
- Here you can see all your Group chats. Tap the plus sign in the top right corner.
- Give your Group a name and description, add a picture, and set a Group fee (if you want)!
- Create your Group chat and invite your followers to join you.
Fam Tiers 🎁
Fam Tiers are support tiers, a bit like Patreon. Your followers subscribe to them each month and receive some kind of perk or benefit in return. This could be something simple, like access to a private weekly Livestream, or a little more complex, like free monthly merch. It’s a great way to connect with your followers and thank them for their continued support.
To start your Fam Tiers, you:
- Head to your profile, then go into your Creator Space.
- Click “My Fam” and select how many tiers you want. You need a minimum of one!
- Give your tier a name, a monthly price, and describe what subscribers will get.
- Choose from five pre-loaded benefits for your supporters.
- Hit “Save and Publish” and let followers know you’ve started your Fam Tiers!
Referral Progam 🤝
Did you know Clapper has a referral program? For every friend you invite, you can earn exclusive bonuses when they go Live or receive/send gifts! All you have to do is send them your referral link and make sure they download. Here’s how.
- Head to your profile and open your Creator Space.
- Under the Monetization section, tap “Referral Program”.
- Tap “Invite Now,” then select “Copy” to copy your referral link.
- Add your link to your socials or share them with your besties!
- In this section, you’ll be able to track your invitees and the diamonds you earn.
Clapper Shop 🏪
Not to brag, but we were actually one of the first short-form video platforms to launch a Shop feature. With Clapper Shop, you can open an online storefront and list products. Whether you’re a small business owner looking for more traffic or just trying to unload the crafts you make on a Livestream, Clapper Shop makes selling online easy!
Setting up a Clapper Shop is easy, and you don’t need a certain number of followers to do it. Here’s how.
- Open your profile, then head to your Creator Space.
- Under “Monetization”, select the “My Shop” button.
- If you haven’t already, you’ll be asked to confirm your email!
- Start adding items! Be sure to upload pictures and add a good description.
Followers can shop your items right on your profile. And with no fees to open a Shop or list a product, it’s never been easier to sell online!
Multi Live 📸
One of the easiest ways for creators to monetize is by going Live. One of the most fun is Multi Live! You can go Live with up to eight other creators, connecting with your followers, your favorite creators, and their communities at once. We’ve already discussed how to host the best livestream, but let’s talk about how to keep track of what you’re earning in a Live. And no, you don’t need a pen and paper or a great memory!
- Start a Livestream.
- Tap the Diamond button on the top left.
- Here you can see all your gifters and your earnings!
There’s one big impediment to reaching followers outside your community. It’s not the algorithm; it’s the language barrier. Let’s fix that!
Translation 🎙️
There are two ways to translate in-app! You can either change the language of the whole app, or just translate comments. Here’s how!
App Language 🤓
- On your profile, tap the three lines/buttons in the top right corner.
- Under General Settings (the second section), select “Language”.
- In the first option, you can update your app language. Just tap and find your desired language.
- In the second section, you can select up to three preferred languages.
- In the third section, you can choose which language you want the comments translated into.
- Hit “Save” and you’re good to go!
Don’t see your language? We’re working on adding more, so feel free to DM us and let us know if we’re missing yours!
Comments 🥳
- Open the comment section of your desired video.
- Press and hold the comment you want to translate.
- A menu, with four options, will pop up. Select “Translate”.
- The comment will be translated into your chosen language.
Right now, the only text you can translate is comments. We’re working on making more of the app translatable!
Bonus: Captions 🧡
That’s right, you can now turn on captions while scrolling Clapper!
- Tap the arrow on the right side of a video.
- Select the “Captions” button, located on the bottom row.
- Turn the “Show captions” toggle on (hint: make sure it’s green).
- If the video supports captions, they’ll automatically pop up!
Right now, captions are only in the language of the original video. They can’t be translated into your app language. But captions are an invaluable accessibility tool that can help you connect with other creators!
