This week, we released an update to our community favorite PK Battle feature. Now you can PK with up to three of your favorite creators! Pit all of your audiences against each other, or team up to see if one creator can take down a dynamic duo.
In this article, we’ll be breaking down this exciting new feature and telling you how to start your own Team PK! Never PK’ed at all? We’ve got you covered with some live-saving tips. Get it? Live-saving.
What is Team PK 🤨
Team PK Battles are an expanded version of PK Battles, one of our community’s favorite features. With PK Battles, two Livestream hosts would combine their Lives and go head-to-head to see who gets the most gifts.
But Team PK Battles let you go Live and PK with up to three of your favorite creators. You can either choose to compete against each other or assign teams to make it extra competitive. Check out this video from the Clapper team for more details!
How to Start a Team PK ⏲️
If you’ve done a PK Battle before, you can easily do a Team PK! All it takes is a few more steps.
- Tap the “+” button along the bottom of the screen.
- Select “Live” and…well, go Live.
- Notify your followers that you’re Live. You have to if you’re PK-ing.
- Tap the “PK” button along the bottom of your screen.
- Select the creators you want to PK from the list. To PK with a creator, they need to be Live and you’ll have to be following each other.
- Tap “Invite”, then wait for them to accept or deny your invite.
- Once all your invitees are present, you’ll press “Start PK”.
- Organize the teams and decide who’s competing against who.
- Start the PK! Don’t forget, there’s a timer counting down.
That’s it! Literally, it just takes inviting a few more creators and assigning teams. Now let’s get to the other part: making your PK Battles more interesting.
How to Battle Better 🥇
PK Battling on its own can be really fun, but there are a few things you can do to make it more fun for your audience, too. Because the more engaged they are, the more they’re having fun, the more they’ll send you gifts. Which means you’re more likely to win.
Promote Your PK Battles 📣
Try not to do a spur of the moment PK Battles. Sometimes you can’t help it, and those can be really fun. But plan your PK Battles in advance and let your followers know when you’ll be going Live. This gives them time to join you and actually take part in the PK Battle.
Connect With Your Partners 🧡
Connect with the creators you want to PK with and make sure they’re in! This gives them time to prepare and ensures that you have at least one person to go Live with. Don’t just spring a PK Battle on someone. They’ll be more relaxed and ready to lock in – and their audience will likely know too!
Have a Plan 📝
While a random Live with no plan can be exciting, an aimless PK Battle can actually be so boring. Before you (and your friends) go Live, have a plan for what you’ll do. Will you compete to see who dances better? Are you doing a Live painting competition? Give yourself and your guest something to do, and let your audience decide who wins.
Keep Up With the Chat 💬
As you’re battling, keep an eye on the chat and what your followers are saying. You don’t have to read every message or respond to every question, but try to check in. Engaging with the chat helps your followers feel more involved, which makes them more likely to keep watching and gifting.
Fun Ways to PK 🪩
Now that you’ve got the skills to make your next PK the most exciting yet, let’s talk about what you can do! Here are some classic competitions you can use in your next PK.
Friendly Debates 🎙️
Got a topic you want to discuss? Can’t decide if a hot dog is a sandwich? Settle it on a PK Battle! Tell the audience what you’re discussing, and both of you plead your case. Let your viewers vote on which opinion they think is correct.
Dance Battles 🩰
The cornerstone of our Rocktoberfest campaign was a chicken dance competition hosted via PK Battles. Revive it, with your own personal spin! Maybe you don’t love the Chicken Dance, but try out the Macarena or a trending dance.
Joke Contests 😜
Our comedy creators might be working on their stand-up routine or a new set of jokes. Join forces to test them out and have the audience vote on who they think is better.
