There’s nothing scarier than waking up two days before Halloween and realizing you don’t have any spooky season content! Don’t grab the garlic, put down that holy water; it’s not real. At least, it’s not real this year. We’re sharing seven videos you can make for spooky season.
Decorate Pumpkins…Or Squash 🎃
This is a spooky season classic for a reason! Carving pumpkins (and other vegetables) is one of the oldest Halloween traditions. It’s messy, it’s fun, and every pumpkin looks unique. To make this video, grab a pumpkin, a knife, or a paint palette, set up your camera, and start decorating. It’s that easy! If you want to make it a challenge or put a fun spin on it, try to recreate specific inspo. Van Gogh’s sunflowers on a pumpkin? Scooby Doo carved into a pumpkin? We’re sat.
If you aren’t a fan of using a pumpkin (they’re heavy and expensive, we get it), try a squash! Grab a pie pumpkin, butternut squash, or a cute little acorn squash. They might not carve as well as the big pumpkin, but they’ll give your video a unique twist.

Create Spooky Makeup Looks 🧟♂️
You don’t need to be a MUA to try creating some fun Halloween looks. All you need is face paint, makeup, or some prosthetics! Plus, there are several kinds of videos you can make in this category.
If you know what you’re doing with makeup, find a look or transformation you love and recreate it. If you’ve got no idea what you’re doing, find an “easy” video and see if it’s actually that easy. If you’re an artist, test your skills and see if you can make yourself a canvas. And if you have the time, try giving yourself a total transformation with prosthetics! You can find a lot of these supplies at a craft store, a party store, or even online.

Rewatch or Recommend Halloween Movies 🧙♀️
If you celebrate Halloween, we know you’ve watched at least one Halloween movie this year. Make a video talking about the movies you want to watch. Is your line-up more nostalgic, or are you aiming for actual horror?
Another spin on this is to recommend spooky season movies! Get a list of movies you recommend people watch this year. Try to give it a theme to help it reach a specific, more interested audience. What do you recommend for vampire lovers? For people who don’t actually like being scared?

Trick or Treating (or Halloween) Safety 🍬
Spooky season is…well, spooky. Not because of demons or ghosts, but because it gives bad people an excuse to do bad things. Streets packed with trick-or-treaters and clubs packed with partying adults sound like the start of a true crime documentary. Share some safety tips this Halloween. If you’re a parent, what do you and your family do to stay safe? If you’re going out, what are some things you do to be safe?

Show Off Your Halloween Costume 👹
The best part of Halloween is dressing up! Costumes always take over social media during spooky season. Share what you’re wearing this year – or what you want to be. Take us through the process of getting your costume together, or show us a quick test run of how it might look. If you’ve got ideas, you can create a video of inspiration for other people to use. Or you can wait until Halloween to share your costume!

If you’re like us, your FYP is full of scary stories all year round. But spooky season is when they really shine. Create a few videos sharing some scary stories with your followers. You can either write your own or tell some well-known stories from haunted locations. Just be sure you don’t steal stories from other creators! We’re loving this series about spooky bodies of water.
