The Road to Verification Part 5: Why Do I Want to be Verified?

Don’t worry kids – we’re nearly there. Our road to verification series is nearly over, so you can stop kicking the back of our seats! Hang on just a little longer and you’ll be at our final destination. But in this episode, we’re answering a question we get a lot. Why do I want to be verified?

You may be asking this because you’re at the very start of your content creation journey. Or you may be counting license plates on our road trip and wondering why some would go through such a long process. But that bewilderment is the key. Why would you want to go through that? Asking yourself, why do I want to be verified, is an important step.

The Why

There’s a lot of reasons why one would want to be verified. And, so long as you aren’t doing it with malicious intent, there’s no wrong answer! Why you want to be verified may change how you approach content creation or the verification process. It may also alter which platforms you target first.

So, before you seek out your verification, pause and ask yourself: why do I want to be verified? And if you like to plan out every stop and snack on a roadtrip, try asking yourself that same question when you begin your content creation journey.

The answer to the question might be personal or professional! Content creation is a passion project for some of us and a way to make money for others. Whichever you’re aiming for, verification can fulfill it.

Pride ๐Ÿ†

If you love social media and content creation, verification can be a great validator! It shouldn’t be your only one, but it still shows you (and others) how much you’ve accomplished. Some creators don’t necessarily want to be verified for any benefits or perks: they just want to be able to say they did it!

Credibility ๐Ÿฅ‡

There’s not a lot of ways to prove that you’re qualified as a content creator. Right now, verification is the best (and sometimes only) way to show you know what you’re doing. If you want something that shows your qualifications, it’s verification.

Literal Verification โœ…

A lot of celebrities or public figures have verified social media accounts for clarity and safety. The blue check proves that they are who they claim to be, which keeps fans from getting scammed by fake accounts.

Sponsorships and Collaborations ๐Ÿค

Brands love to work with verified creators for a number of reasons. Verification is a stamp of credibility, so brands feel more inclined to trust a verified creator. It’s also more likely that they’ll reach a larger audience if they work with a verified creator, which is enticing.

The same goes for other creators: if you’re looking to collab, verification will really help. It proves you’re a reliable, quality content creator with a large audience. Who wouldn’t want to work with someone like that?

Visibility and Trust ๐Ÿ”’

This is an especially useful motive for shops, businesses, and business owners. Verified creators are often seen more, so their products will be seen more as well. And potential customers will be more likely to trust and buy from these accounts.

For the Algorithms (duh) ๐Ÿ“ˆ

A lot of algorithms love content created by verified accounts. They may boost your content if you’re verified, making sure it ends up on more people’s FYPs. And on some of those platforms, more views or likes equals more money. This is often the only way to monetize on other platforms, so verification is a huge financial boon.

Clapper is equal opportunity, so we don’t boost our verified creators’ content. Instead, we offer a variety of ways for creators to monetize their content. Our creators don’t have to rely on likes or engagement to get paid!

Community Recognition ๐ŸŒŸ

Many community or niche leaders want their verification to show that they’re a community leader. If they’ve put a lot of work into growing an audience or building an app-wide community, it makes sense they’d want a little recognition for it.

Better Compensation ๐Ÿ’ธ

Once you’re verified, you’re able to charge (at all, or more) for your work as a content creator. That means that brands will literally have to pay to work with you. You get to sent your own price, and you can up that price once you’re a verified creator.

And, like we said earlier, other platforms have algorithms that will push your content out more. Anyway you look at it, verification can definitely bring in more money.

More Tools ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

Some platforms offer their creators a whole new suite of tools and trackers once they’re verified. So if you’re into crunching numbers or checking out the analytics, verification may get you a whole new layer of it!

Differentiation ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Some creators might want to be different. It’s as simple as that! Verification helps you stand out from the crowd, and that’s a great thing to strive for.

The Final Stop ๐Ÿ›‘

In our next and final installment, we’ll be covering what to do after you’re verified. How else can you continue growing? What other benchmarks can you achieve? I spy an article that can help you figure it out!
