Five Milestones for Five Years on the Clapper App

This year, the Clapper app turns five. If we were a human, we’d be picking out our backpack (Bluey, of course) and insisting we need PB&J sandwiches in our lunchboxes for kindergarten. But we’re a social media app…so a monologue is way more appropriate.

Can we get a little sentimental? A little emotional? Just for five minutes? Once we’re done, we’ll go back to providing advice and social media insights and using silly gifs. We promise! If you’ll let us, through, we want to reflect on our favorite moments from the past five years.

Our First Campaign 🎉

We’ve hosted dozens of campaigns in 2021. Do you remember what it was? Our OGs might, but even our original team members who planned it were scratching their heads trying to remember.

Mother’s Day 2021 was our very first campaign! And it’s full of all the things we (and you) love about Clapper campaigns. We hosted a Clapback trend, sent a special gift to all the Clapper moms, and launched the #ClapperMom hashtag. It was a simple campaign, but the moms came out in droves.

Thank you to all the creators who took part in this campaign! If you hadn’t, we might never have hosted another.

Our First In-Person Meet Up 🫶

In the summer of 2022, we hosted Sounds of DFW. We invited local musicians and Clapper creators to…well, a party! We had local musicians, a DJ, and plenty of drinks. It was the first time we, the Clapepr team, got to meet our creators. And we all had so much fun!

It was a great opportunity to get to know our creators and highlight incredible musicians. And it opened the door for future, even bigger in-person events…

Our First Creator Event 🪩

It’s July 2024. The scene is Gilley’s in Dallas, TX. There’s a literal, actual longhorn outside and free drinks at the bar. This is the Dallas Creator Social, our first creator event and Dallas’ first content creator social, and you’re about to meet your Clapper besties.

We had a lot of dreams for Clapper, but DCS was more than we could have ever hoped for! Creators from all over the world came to Dallas to connect. Clapper Shops sold their best goodies, musicians took to the stage during our after-parties, attendees won prizes and learned to line dance, and online connections became IRL friendships. And, thanks to our sponsors, the weekend-long party had some pretty great swag, too.

DCS was truly unforgettable. We still talk about it in the office to this day. Thank you to all the creators who came out and made this day so unbelievably special. Check out this highlight reel to relive our biggest event yet.

Clapper Launched in Mexico 🇲🇽

Clapper became available in Mexico (and subsequently all of Central and South America) in October 2024. To celebrate, we hosted Hispanic Heritage Month, one of our biggest campaigns yet!

This wasn’t our first HHM campaign, but it was one of our most successful in-app events ever. Not to mention, we welcomed thousands of new creators to the Clapper community. During this campaign, we launched a brand new HHM Profile Tag for Hispanic and Latino creators, revived our iconic piñata hanging gift, and highlighted creator Group chats.

But we didn’t stop there. Our community celebration revolved around Livestream game nights! Members of this Hispanic community, new and old, joined us for a mixology party, a paint and sip night, a snack taste-testing, and more. We loved getting to connect with new creators, learning about Hispanic culture, and celebrating our newest, most vibrant community.

We’re #1…and 2! 🏆

Our highest high points might be all about community, but we’d be lying if we didn’t say being the #1 social media app on the Apple App Store wasn’t amazing.

It’s a two-part success! Back in 2024, when the TikTok Ban first went through, we were the talk of the town. So much so that we were the #1 social media app on the Apple App Store. And we weren’t far behind on the Google Play Store, either!

Then in January of 2025, when TikTok went dark in the US, we shot up the charts again! Clapper reached #2 in the App Store’s “Top Free” category. That means we weren’t just a super popular social media app; we were a super popular app, period!

A Common Thread 🧵

Did you notice a common thread in our favorite moments? It’s you. Our community.

From our first campaign to reaching the top of the social media charts, none of our best accomplishments would have been possible if it weren’t for our incredible creators. The community on Clapper is what makes us special. You’ve built a community known for its authenticity and acceptance. You created a place where people from around the world can connect with and learn from one another. The community on Clapper has become a beacon of acceptance and encouragement in the (at times bleak) social media landscape.

It might be our birthday, but we wouldn’t have gotten this far without you. Thank you for making the Clapper app what it is today. Despite all the glitches, thank you for sticking with us.
