The Savage Awards Brings Clapper Community Closer Together

The Savage Awards is the award ceremony for Clapper creators by the one and only: Info Savage! This Clapper innovator brings us for the second time a show that promotes inclusivity and the growth of the Clapper community. We are amazed at the line-ups and talent of this year’s award show.

We had a candid interview with Info Savage to give us a unique input of how the event turned out and what the awards are really about. Take it away Info Savage!

For anyone who doesn’t know what The Savage Awards are, how would you describe the experience? What does it mean to you?

The Savage Awards is for anyone who feels left out and wants to be a part of something if they had the opportunity. It’s an award show so we are giving people awards for their talent, but the main purpose is to create unity between complete strangers.

What made you decide you wanted to create something like this?

It started when there was a lot of friction in the App and we didn’t know the livelihood of the app, and it made me sad. That’s what made me want to start it. I thought: Let’s do a show! And it blew up. People got behind it and that’s when it kind of flourished.

What was it like creating a virtual show and completing all collaborations online during a Pandemic?

It was fun, but it was also stressful. I worked with over 60 people that were in the actual final production, but over 100 people that were involved in the show. We were promoting the show and making skits. Even though the pandemic was going on and we couldn’t do this in person obviously, it came out just as good as if you went to an in-person show. It might have been more of a challenge because I had to work with exactly what I needed to make the show flow, it was a lot of one-on-one attention, but I got it done.

What was the hardest part?

The hardest part of it all was managing the intake of everyone. Figuring out how to get your nominees, to actual contestants, to winners and how that whole flow was going to look like for it to make sense to everyone involved. There was two people that played a big part helping me with the Savage Awards and that was @_Kicks and @MysterE, I couldn’t do it without them.

what was your favorite part?

I hadn’t been asked that yet. My favorite part of the whole Savage Awards was the credits. I used everyone’s videos accepting the award. At the end of the day we are all winners and that’s what matters.

Why do you feel the Savage Awards are important for new and old creators? What are key takeaways you want people to get from this show?

I think the key take-away from the show is love. That is the biggest part. When you watch it you see a lot of videos where people say that ‘a lot of love’ went into it and they’re right. From the beginning, even the first Savage Award, I wanted people to be stars. When people are making content they are concerned that they are not good enough, and I wanted even small creators to feel like a stars. You are human, you are family on this app and you deserve to be here.

What are your hopes for the next Savage Awards?

For the next Savage Awards, I would love for it to be in person, but the next one I wanted to be bigger. The more people involved is what makes the Savage Awards, The Savage Awards.
