What does a day look like in your life?
Right now I am in Bosnia. I lived in Chicago for 20 years. Regularly, I stay with the kids and cook a lot. My job is doing cup therapy and cooking just from my childhood. My grandfather cooked for 50 years, same with my father, we’re like Italians, we cook all the time. When I got married, my husband’s family had restaurants and stores and I learned from them all these years.
When did your journey in social media begin? Why did you decide to join Clapper?
It started when Covid started. I didn’t know what to do and I wanted to show people my culture through the food. I started on TikTok and I didn’t feel as welcomed. Then, I was recommended to use Clapper by an actor friend. However, Clapper is more like family than anything else.
What content do you enjoy most doing?
Most of my videos are cooking. I love to cook. Since I already do it everyday in my house, then is easy to share it on Clapper.
What cultural influences do you incorporate in your cooking?
The food that I make is mostly middle-eastern because I love the number of spices that it has. It’s very healthy. I used spices and herbs for everything, even for my cup therapy. In my recipes, I like to include vegetarian and vegan options, so my food is for everybody. Sometimes I change some recipes to fit American cuisine and European style.
What’s your favorite dish to cook? Why?
It’s too many dishes that I love. I like to make chicken shawarma, which is similar to gyros. I like to make falafel and hummus because for breakfast we can put all of that on everything.
What is your favorite thing about Clapper?
I meet so many people and for me, they are all like family. I started with @Red_headed_rebel. She’s my mentor, as well as @Infamous_Panda and so many others. They are all in my family. I can’t really explain it, but in my heart, I don’t see them as friends. They are so much more than that.
In what ways do you think Clapper needs improvement?
There are a few glitches in the app. Also, in the beginning, I was frustrated with the views and likes of my videos, but after that I figured out that this is a new app and there are too many people. I know that it takes some time to fix things and we need to be understanding of it.
What advice would you give to new creators that want to be successful on Clapper app?
Be authentic. I see many accounts that are not themselves and they pretend. You need to do things that you do every day. Like me, for example, I cook for my kids and husband every day, so I just record what I do and it’s done. Do what you like and be yourself.
